GLOBAL VISION INTERNATIONAL
Global Vision International (GVI) is a UK based organization which provides support and funding for long term pioneering conservation and community projects in 20 countries worldwide. Cano Palma will serve as a location for GVI's Costa Rican based projects. GVI volunteers fill an essential void in the fields of environmental research, conservation, education and community development. To date over 1500 volunteers have joined projects, resulting in increased manpower and the direct financial support of over $750,000. [learn more about GVI]
YORK UNIVERSITY
The Faculty of Environmental Science at York University in Toronto (Ontario, Canada) joined COTERC in a venture to monitor sea turtle nesting and potential problems associated with poaching of turtles and eggs. Students from the university spend a month or two at the station as part of an internship program offered by the university. [learn more about York University's Faculty of Environmental Science]
PARTNERS IN FLIGHT
COTERC and Partners in Flight monitor migratory birds as they pass through the station property. COTERC provides access to Cano Palma Biological Station where mist nets are set up to capture birds. Representatives from Partners in Flight catalogue the species that are captured and fit each bird with leg bands if they do not already have one. [learn more about Partners in Flight]
